TOUR.I.S.M.O. – International Tour for Maritime Exchanges in Hospitality
The challenge
In a post-crisis context where tourism was seeking new prospects for revitalization, the TOUR.I.S.M.O. project faced a crucial challenge: to accompany students and recent graduates on a path that would make them protagonists in the recovery of the tourism-retail sector, through training and inclusion in the cross-border labor market.
The partnership
A virtuous alliance between ITS MO.SO.S. of Cagliari (lead partner), the Campus Foundation of Lucca and the Université de Toulon has shaped a project with a strong educational and territorial imprint.
Difficulties overcome
The pandemic prevented in-person exchanges, but the project responded with resilience: the online hackathon became the heart of the confrontation between students, professionals and territories. A challenge issued by the University of Toulon-“how to strengthen cross-border tourism in uncertain times?” – ignited shared ideas, strategies and visions.
The results of cooperation
More than 60 young people were involved in training, planning and creative activities. The groups came up with a “Manifesto of Sustainable Tourism for Youth,” the result of collective work inspired by identity values, innovation and inclusion. A document that today represents a seed planted for the future.
What we learned
TOUR.I.S.M.O. has taught us that borders are not obstacles, but opportunities. That cooperation, even remotely, can generate enthusiasm, ideas and solid networks. And that investing in young people is the most authentic way to build a smart, sustainable and deeply European tourism. Knowing the mechanisms of the program, managing the partnership and focusing on results was crucial.
